Accessibility at Vale Farm Cottages
This statement outlines the accessibility of the cottages and farm to help guests establish whether it is a suitable place for them to come and stay. Floor plans for the cottages can be found on each individual cottages page.
Cottages
Vale Farmhouse
All bedrooms are upstairs with stair gates at the top and bottom. There is entry to the cottages can be through 3 different front doors- Main front door- up a small step under the porch, then small step into the house. Side door- small step up to the path to the door, small step into the house. Back door- no step entry apart from the lip of the door. There is a w/c downstairs. Upstairs there are two bathrooms- 1 with roll top bath and small step into shower, second bathroom- small step into shower. Hot tub in the garden has two steps up to get into it.
Vale Rowan
No step entry into the house via main front door or French doors into living room. The house has most of the living space on the ground floor- bedroom 1 and 2 (superking/twin and double) are on the ground floor, both bathrooms are on the ground floor as well as the kitchen and living room. The second bathroom is a wet room shower room, although there may not be space for a wheelchair in there it is no step access to the shower. Lower ground floor is down a flight of stairs, to bedroom 3 and 4. The hot tub has two steps up. Access to the pool is walkable around the front of the other cottages, down a small slope onto gravel. You can drive round if needed.
Vale Oak
This cottage is up an external flight of stairs with the living space then on one level. The main bathroom is a shower over a bath. Bedroom 1 has an ensuite with shower (small step over the lip of shower). Separate w/c. Stairs are wide with handrail up to the cottage. Small step into cottage.
Vale Walnut
No step entry through a wide door. Bedroom 1downstairs- king size room with sliding wide door. Bedroom 2- up narrow stairs to a twin/double room with low ceilings. Bathroom- downstairs is full wet room shower with sliding door and w/c with hand rails. A shower seat is available and is stored in the cupboard under the stairs.
Vale Chestnut, Hornbeam & Wild Cherry
All of these are configurated the same. Two steps up to cottage, the cottages are upside down in design. Bathroom and bedroom are downstairs. Bathroom- small step into shower. Bedroom has 2 double beds. Stairs with hand rail up to the open plan kitchen and living room with French doors to balcony.

You can drive round if neededno step access into pool entrance and changing rooms are all wet room with a chair in the changing rooms. Entrance into the pool- key code to get into the pool. Two steps down into main poolside, three steps with handrail down into the pool. Pool is 1.2m depth across the whole pool. Steps into pool and are pool are the same end. Hot tub is at the other end of the pool, has two steps up into it. Chairs are available on pool side.
Parking
parking area is a large open gravel carpark close to the cottages. There is no parking directly outside the cottages due to the courtyard design and needing to keep a clear path for emergency services access. Direct parking available outside Rowan and the Farmhouse. Rowan has its own parking with enclosed garden. Farmhouse has parking next to and opposite the garden fence.
Play Area
The children’s play are and playing field is accessible via a slope down, this is steepest at the carpark end but is flatter towards Rowan. The play area has a swing, toddler swing, slide with steps up to it and a bouncer. The playing field is flat once down there and is to grass.
Access
Farm
Access to the farm is restricted only to the mapped walks. 3km loop to Trig point- concrete track all the way to the back gate, up and down some small hills. Then walking down a tarmacked road and into a field. 5km loop around the farm- part to the top of the farm concrete, down a tarmacked road to the bridleway which is a mix of stone can be a little rough in places. Walk into the village via the lane which is tarmac.
Cottages
Access to the cottages is by road only, no public transport operates to the village, Taxi’s can bring you to the farm. The closest shop is in Brecon about 7 miles away, accessible via car or taxi or bike.
